commemoration and incidence with World Asthma Day on 3rd
May 2011. In house Pulmonologist Dr. Madhu. K. briefed on the reach out
programme and services offered during the week.
Asthma Awareness: The focus of the Asthma Awareness programme is to spread
awareness on asthma and other airway diseases. The programme is inclusive of
asthma counselling by Pulmonologist Dr. Madhu.K, health educators, and
paramedics. Imparting education on asthma, usage of devices, detection and
diagnoses are the highlights of the camp.

Support Group for Mucopolysaccharidoses or MPS, a rare genetic disorder, was the highlight of the one day event held at Mediscan premises that had almost 200 entries registered on 26 January . Organized by the Fetal Care Research Foundation (FRCF), Chennai, South India, the multi-speciality clinic catered to children with different genetic disorders by varied medical experts from India and the UK.
Facts of the Moment: MPS and other genetic disorders are caused by enzyme malfunctions and are usually not detected by scan during pregnancy. Hence disorders such as MPS, Gaucher among others are evident only after childbirth. Sadly even pediatricians who are unaware of such disorders rob parents of hope for survival of their dear ones.
